Standing 500 feet over Dhaka’s Tejgaon commercial boulevard, Shanta Pinnacle by Shanta Holdings redefines Bangladesh’s skyline as the nation’s first 40-story commercial skyscraper. Beyond its distinction as a LEED Platinum-certified green landmark, Pinnacle presents a masterclass in modern geometry where structural verticality meets glass curtain-wall sophistication.
Hondel Lighting engineered and manufactured the comprehensive architectural lighting package for the project. Working alongside leading local partners, Hondel directed technical site supervision, DMX control system programming, and complete on-site testing and commissioning.
Delivering a multi-zone lighting scheme on a 40-story architectural envelope required seamless coordination across specialized teams:
Primary Vertical & Facade Lighting Execution: Handled locally by Platform Solutions Ltd, managing on-site installation and integration of the main vertical facade system.
Apex & Rooftop Floodlighting Execution: Handled locally by Shanta Lifestyle, executing the installation of high-output rooftop floodlight systems.
Interior Downlight Integration: Handled locally by Litup Bangladesh, overseeing the installation of architectural downlights across the atrium, reception, and key public areas.
Lighting Manufacturer, Engineering Supervision & Commissioning: Hondel Lighting, delivering custom luminaire engineering, optical design, manufacturing, on-site technical supervision, DMX addressing, and dynamic master scene programming.
Pinnacle’s architecture is defined by sharp vertical louvers, a mid-level articulation band, expansive glass curtain walls, and a signature slanted inner crown. The lighting scheme was designed to respect the architectural language, prioritizing clean optical grazing over light spill.
The design accomplishes two primary objectives:
Accentuating Height and Linearity: Crisp optical grazing traces the vertical structural fins, projecting a clean, soaring presence across the city.
Iconic Crown Definition: A luminous dynamic wash across the crown’s angled cut-out establishes an unmistakable beacon on the skyline, capable of transitioning from refined neutral white tones to rich celebratory color sequences.
Technical Zonal Breakdown
To accentuate the tower’s sheer 40-story height, Hondel Lighting engineered custom Linear Dynamic RGBW Wall Washers mounted along the primary vertical louvers.
Optics & Cut-Off: Narrow-beam grazing optics project uniform light up the vertical fins without light trespass into interior offices or direct glare to street level.
Four-Channel Control: High-efficiency RGBW LEDs allow vibrant dynamic color scenes alongside a dedicated, pure 4000K white channel for daily corporate elegance.
The lateral elevations feature Hondel’s continuous 4000K Neutral White Wall Washers extending top to bottom across the middle zones.
This monochromatic vertical treatment provides structural contrast to the front and back dynamic fins.
It creates a balanced, monolithic silhouette that highlights the building’s side elevations with clean, professional corporate lighting.
Horizontal Belt: Dynamic RGBW linear fixtures line the middle horizontal break, visually anchoring the vertical fin arrays and separating the podium levels from the soaring tower.
Slanted Inner Crown: The building’s angled top architectural frame is washed with high-power dynamic RGBW linear washers, illuminating the ceiling soffit into a glowing volumetric apex visible across miles.
Engineered for long-throw illumination and mechanical concealment, high-output Exterior RGBW Architectural Floodlights illuminate the pinnacle rooftop crown structure, framing the building’s highest architectural planes against the night sky.
Hondel Lighting supplied high-CRI architectural downlights throughout Pinnacle’s elevator lobbies, and shared public areas. Designed with low unified glare ratings (UGR) and advanced thermal management, these fixtures complement the tower’s LEED Platinum standard while creating a luxurious, glare-free welcome experience.
Engineering, Supervision & Control Programming
A dynamic skyscraper lighting system requires rigorous engineering behind the glass:
Site Supervision & Cable Topology: Hondel’s engineering team supervised cable pathways, structural mounting brackets, and power feed distribution, mitigating long-run DC voltage drops and guaranteeing IP66/IP67 ingress integrity through severe monsoon conditions.
DMX/RDM Network Integrity: Addressing and signal routing were engineered using isolated DMX/RDM distribution and surge suppression to eliminate signal loss and data reflections across 40 stories.
Commissioning & Scene Design: Hondel programmed tailored lighting scenes into the central control system—encompassing subtle static white scenes for daily commercial hours, energy-saving late-night schedules, and synchronized dynamic themes for national and cultural celebrations.
